Asylum Insight provides facts and analysis on Australian asylum policy, within an international context. We publish quality content to encourage informed debate about asylum policy.

Established in 2013, we are an independent non-profit organisation committed to the principles of international human rights law, independence, and informed public discourse.

Our vision is an Australia where sustainable and evidence-based asylum and refugee policy, which meets our international legal obligations, is the norm. We believe that good policy outcomes flow from an informed population and in the debate about asylum seekers, our mission is to be a trusted, impartial voice. We want to help people have informed conversations and form nuanced opinions on Australia’s asylum policy.

WHO

The Asylum Insight management committee consists of a group of Australian volunteers with backgrounds in law, public policy, communications and academia.

Chloe Harle works for the Refugee Council of Australia.

Darcy Clarke is an honours student specialising in Australian refugee law and policy.

Jenn Watson works in the public sector in New Zealand and has an interest in refugee and asylum seeker issues.

Trudy Hairs has worked with asylum seekers in Australia and the UK for many years.
